From the 1st of February 2016 to the 30th of June 2016, Odette MIH, a student at the Department of Electrical and Telecommunication Engineering of ENSP, interned five (05) months at the CURES.
The theme of her work was: "Energy Efficiency in District Hospitals".
This work aimed the following objectives:
-The evaluation of the energy consumption of Hospital buildings
-The evaluation of the energy losses in these hospital buildings
-The proposition of a solution for the better management of thermal exchanges so as to reduce the energy consumption of these buildings.

In order to attain these objectives, Odette created a new virtual hospital consisting of two district Hospital Buildings. She assessed that out of the 287.76kWh of energy used in conditioning, 64.81kWh of energy is actually lost through the window, doors and wall of these air conditioned spaces making an approximate of 20% of this energy, not to mention that which is lost through the roof, floor and as a result of leakages through broken windows. In calculating the cost of this energy lost she saw that from the amount paid monthly as electricity bill in this hospital, approximately 173,045FCFA of this money paid is for the energy which is actually being lost, making an additional cost of approximately 2,076,540FCFA paid as electric bill per year for energy which is not consumed to do useful work.
So, Odette proposed replacing the existing 16 single glazing windows of the air conditioned rooms by triple glazing, which will cost us 530,000FCFA and the return to investment time was gotten to be 1years 5months.
