The main objective was to make a comprehensive diagnosis of the supplied energy in these hospitals. To carry out the works, three research areas have been defined: the audit of the quality of the available electrical energy; the audit of architecture and the protection of electrical installations and persons; and the audit of energy efficiency.

The audit of the quality of available electrical energy: the analysis of data collected through the PQ BOX 100 presented a voltage dip redundancy in two hospitals and power cuts lasting up until 07 hours. One of the hospitals presents a real deficit in electrical energy, and does not have any source of help in the event of load shedding of national supplier.

Furthermore, we noticed that a hospital was underfed between 18:00 and 22:00 (corresponding to the national rush hours). However billing per kilowatt hour by the national supplier is higher at these hours. Conclusion, the kilowatt-hour is more expensive at the hours when the quality of electrical energy is most deplorable in the hospital.

The audit of the architecture and the protection of electrical installations and persons allowed to notice that when designing electric diagramm in these hospitals, the     standard used was not a specific standard governing the       power supply in hospitals. Rather, it was a general standard for low voltage power supply. This choice of standard presents limits for the safety of biomedical equipment and people. In one hospital in particular, the defective distribution table does not have any safety device. We have also noticed the risks of power grid looping. For in this hospital, the building including the block of the Laboratory had two power lines, yet the technician was unaware of the existence of the other line.

To improve these ineffective working conditions, the CURES has defined a area of research on micro network approach.

Regarding the audit of energy efficiency, the CURES team has used, on one hand, temperature and humidity sensors to determine (through data) wasteful electric power, and on the other hand, the PQ BOX 100 recordings to make a challenge between the recorded consumption and the load curve obtained after a power balance.
